Original Art Work on Display
The popular Oakland, California eatery, Mama's Royal Cafe, on Broadway, held its 30th Annual Napkin Art Contest in March and April, 2012. There were 140 entries in total, and Giovanna's work was on display for napkin art. Her work was dubbed “political collage.” Her art is entitled “Occupy Oakland: Stop the Foreclosures!” It represented the crisis in Alameda County and elsewhere, of people losing their homes to the big banks. About her work, Giovanna said this period of time is definitely a low point in American history when you consider that this country is well-known as the “land of opportunity.” The only rule of this annually held contest is that your art has to be created on a napkin.
